Job Purpose: To facilitate a safe space for muslim prospective adoptive parents to build relationships and to obtain support. Working hours are dependent on group dynamics, the role will mainly be home based with some travel expected.
Key Reponsibilities:
- To facilitate and help deliver a range of group activities in a safe and social way to meet the needs of prospective adoptive parents.
- To create a safe space for prospective adoptive parents to socialise and make friends without pressure.
- To run online groups and facilitate face to face meetings.
- To motivate the group and understand group dynamics.
- To maintain safety and confidentially at all times.
- To undertake any training given.
- To share best practice with other group facilitators.
Key Skills:
- Effectively facilitate group meetings and one to one chats as required.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of BME / Muslim prospective adopters.
- Able to prioritise and manage own workload.
- Maintain systems and procedures including feedback forms.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will need:
Experience of adoption in the UK as an adoptive parent, social worker or therapist. | Essential |
Able to demonstrate an understanding of adoption and the needs of BME / Muslim families. | Essential |
Experience of facilitating a support group | Desirable |
Experience in counselling. | Desirable |
A diploma or degree in counselling. | Desirable |
Own car and UK driving licence | Desirable |
