Adoption Friday is the UK’s biggest day for raising awareness about adoption within the Muslim community. On the day, during the Jummah Khutbah, mosques across the country will talk about the important role adopters play. Highlighting, why we urgently need more people from the Muslim community to come forward.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this” (putting his index and middle fingers together). [Sahih al-Bukhari).
Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an: “They ask you about the orphans: say, ‘it is good to set things right for them. If you combine their affairs with yours, remember they are your brothers and sisters…'”. [Qur’an 2:220]
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “The best house among the Muslim is the house in which orphans are well treated.” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]
Adopters experience of the adoption process: “The bond you establish with them is truly rewarding” [Tanvir and Maryam]
“I initially fostered and then decided to adopt. I think that there are misconceptions about adoption but it is really rewarding.” [Tahera – Single mum]
